The base rate
The base rate covers delivery, pickup, the rental period, and disposal up to a set weight. Much of the cost is the truck and driver, which is why going one size larger often costs less than people expect.
The weight allowance
Every rental includes a weight allowance. If the load goes over, the extra weight is billed per ton. Light materials, like furniture and household items, rarely go over. Heavy materials, like shingles, plaster, tile, concrete, dirt and wet wood, can push you over quickly.
Rental days
The rental includes a set number of days. Extra days are usually billed per day. If the job might run long, say so when you book.
Other fees to know about
- Extra-cost items. Tires, mattresses, appliances and similar items can go, but each carries an extra fee, so tell us when you book.
- Overloading. If debris sits above the top rail, it has to come out before the truck can haul safely.
- A dry run. If the truck can't reach the container because a car is in the way, a return trip may be billed.
How to avoid extra charges
- Tell us about heavy materials up front.
- Keep the load level with the rail.
- Clear access on delivery and pickup days.
- Ask before tossing anything unusual.
